Stub can be multiple things, generally a small code function that either reroutes/blocks function calls, can use any language

the original function did some the stub just makes it return, sometimes the stub is just to reserve it till one gets back to completing it

Yeah I thought a "stub" was on the dark side of programming, so I assumed it wasn't going to have a definition on Wikipedia.
