|
|
Today, while walking down the street with friends, I discovered a sheet of paper with a strange symbol on it taped to the side of a small billboard.
For whatever reason it striked me as extremely weird so I pocketed it with the hopes of discovering what it meant.
Is it a riddle? Just a symbol? I have no idea but hopefully someone here will recognize something from it.
Here is a picture of the symbol:

On the bottom of the hexagon is a cobra inside a circle:

In the center of the pentagon maze is an eye:

Around the outside of the hexagon are the letters: H, Q, L, H, and O (in that order)
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I guess what strikes me most (beyond the fact that it is wierd as fuck) is the creepy eye in the center...reminds me of the Illuminati eye. Some person actually took the time to print this out and place it on the street corner so it must mean something.
On a semi-related note, I live in Milwaukee, WI. |

First of all, I KNOW that I've seen that symbol somewhere before. Secondly, I'm still working on where I've seen it...
Okay, I haven't found where I found it yet. However, I did note that the eye in the center of the maze is probably not masonic in origin. While the eye features the exact gaze/stare/positioning as the eye on the dollar bill, it appears to be a different eye.
Let's start cracking that cipher! I thought at first that it might be an ADFGVX cipher, but then I thought that it probably wasn't as it contained the letter H twice.
Next, I supposed that since you had a pentagon inscribed within a hexagon and that if you were to draw a star using the five points of the pentagon as vertices, you would avoid the cobra in the circle as it's the only point not featured on the hexagon - thus achieving you the re-ordered code: OQHHL - but then I realized that there's more than one way to draw a star on a pentagon.
Then, I thought, what if the maze is the key and the letters around the outside were the data. Interestingly enough, the pentagon is drawn in such a way that the cobra in the circle is never referenced if you use extended vectors given off by the correct maze traversal as the key order, which would achieve you the codes (depending on whether you started outside the maze and went in, or you started inside the maze at the eye and went out):

Well, it's not a Caesar Cipher:

I'm going to look through my book on this stuff, "The Secret Teachings of All Ages" (Manly P. Hall) (it's available for free on the Internet somewhere, excellent read) for the hexagon, pentagram, eye, and snake-in-circle symbols.

The cobra appears to be very similar to the Egyption symbol Uraeus:
| Quote: | | The cobra is an emblem of Lower Egypt. It is associated with the king, and kingdom of Lower Egypt. It is also associated with the sun and with many deities. The cobra represented the "fiery eye of Re", in which two uraei can be seen on either side of a winged solar disk. Starting in Middle Kingdom The uraeus appears as a symbol worn on the crown or headdress of royalty. It is used as a protective symbol, the Egyptians believed that the cobra would spit fire at any approaching enemies. |

I actually generated that list from a Caesar Cipher solving excel spreadsheet that I just downloaded heh.
Edit:
I seem have have found the exact cobra:
| Quote: | | The uraeus represents a rearing cobra with a flared hood. The cobra is associated with the sun god, the kingdom of Lower Egypt, the kings and their families, and several deities. A symbol of protection, it guards the gates of the underworld, wards off the enemies of the royals and guides the deceased pharaohs on their journey through the underworld. |

Note: It's a left, not right, eye. | Alex-M wrote: | I seem have have found the exact cobra:

In my opinion, the maze appears to be the key to solving this. |
